is but an unpleasant extreme

to show something

where there's nothing

and the fact that it's not rare

for a person to compare

science to defiance

and alliance to compliance

The nastiest of things

are often the most exciting of flings

changing happiness to sorrow

and creating a fear of tomorrow

But somehow inside

it is often implied

that man must suffer

for the sake of being tougher

when really we're all

just masochists and smallminded
